Thurrock Library Service
Libraries are free for everyone, and open to all in the community. Libraries across the Borough are open year-round for residents and are uniquely placed to respond to the rise in living costs by providing safe and inviting spaces, activities, support getting online, computers, free wi-fi, reading for learning, information and leisure, social groups, events for adults and children and the opportunity to connect with others.We have Over 7 million physical books available via our library catalogue,E-books and e-audiobooks and Access to PCs and WiFi.
Our services and offers include -
- Gifting SIM cards for free calls, texts and data for low-income households
- Access ticket (for residents who find it hard to read print, allowing for the loan of audiobooks, CDs and DVDs at no charge)
- Home-Link library service (deliveries for people who have difficulty accessing the borough's libraries. Difficulties could include mobility difficulties, sight impairment – registered blind or partially sighted, and other medical conditions, which are assessed on a case-by-case basis
- 'Wireless for the Blind' CD and MP3 players (We work with the British Wireless for the Blind Fund to provide CD and MP3 players for talking books. These are free if you are on a means tested benefit.)
- Books in other languages
- Health Information books – Reading Well collection for mental health and Macmillan cancer collection
- Dementia collection – including picture books for reminiscence, dementia-friendly jigsaws, games, flash cards, aqua paints, memory boxes and reminiscence suitcases packed with items from decades pas
- We can also help with :
