NELFT: Community Paediatric Sickle Cell & Thalassaemia Service (0-18)
Essex Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia service offer a range of services to ‘at risk’ couples (pregnant women who are sickle cell carriers or affected by sickle), families with children who are affected with sickle cell and thalassemia along with other unusual haemoglobin variants. Please make a referral into this service if there is a child (0-18) affected by sickle cell, thalassaemia, or an unusual haemoglobin variant.
The service provides an evidenced-based specialist nursing service, with effective clinical leadership, offering counselling, support and signposting. The service works in partnership with multidisciplinary staff, both in acute and community services, to develop effective links across providers in providing a seamless screening service.
If you are an adult who is unsure of their genotype please email us and we are happy to help.
If you are an adult who is affected with sickle cell or thalassaemia and need support, please email us and we will signpost you accordinging to the adult consultants in Essex.
Please note, we are not an emergency service.
